BOSTON — A Lawrence man is accused of trafficking fentanyl and crack cocaine and a Salisbury man also faces drug charges after police intercepted what they believe to be a street-level drug sale in East Boston on Tuesday.

Jheury Rodriguez-Soriano, 32, of Lawrence, is charged with trafficking of Class A, trafficking of Class B, distribution of Class A and Distribution of Class B, police said Wednesday.

Michael Bussey, 31, of Salisbury, is charged with possessing Class A and possessing Class B.

Rodriguez-Soriano and Bussey are expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.

Both men were arrested at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Officers were on patrol in the area of 944 Bennington St. when they saw a motor vehicle enter the parking lot, police said. Officers saw the vehicle park, but the driver did not exit the vehicle.

Officers continued to monitor the vehicle and saw a person looking in all directions approach the area, police said.

Officers saw the vehicle back out of the parking spot, and drove towards the person. Officers saw the person enter the vehicle, and the car drove around the building and parked again, police said.

Shortly after, the vehicle left the parking lot and the person exited the vehicle.

Officers quickly stopped the suspect who exited the vehicle, and recovered a plastic bag of fentanyl and a plastic bag of crack cocaine, police said.

Officers who were following the suspected motor vehicle then asked for assistance with a traffic stop. Officers were able stop the vehicle in the area of Wordsworth Street. Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and placed him into handcuffs.

Officers recovered 34 plastic bags of fentanyl, 20 plastic bags of crack cocaine, and 5 plastic bags of cocaine, police said.

Investigators later weighed the drugs, which were determined to be 91 grams of fentanyl and 93.6 grams of crack cocaine/cocaine, police said. Officers also recovered $753 in cash.
