WALPOLE, Mass. — A large fundraiser was held Friday night for Bishop Feehan High School hockey player A.J. Quetta, who suffered a serious spinal cord injury on Jan. 26.

Since the accident, we’ve seen a lot of support for AJ Quetta and his family.

And that strong support for A.J. continued on Friday night in Walpole, where the A.J. Quetta Invitational got underway at the Rodman Arena.

Four local hockey teams took part: from Medfield, Westwood, Medway and Brookline.

Curt Schilling was there as a presenter.

The fundraiser will take place all weekend, including Saturday and Sunday. And on Sunday afternoon, the championship will be played. The public can come watch for a $5 donation.

There will also be a 3-day auction that’ll be posted online with items from across the sports world and packages being donated by businesses.

And after the game on Sunday, players will present A.J.’s family with 100 percent of the donations.

The money collected will go to support A.J., who remains in Atlanta to undergo rehabilitation for his injury.

People who turned out Friday night said they really enjoyed themselves.

“I came out to watch my son who plays for Westwood and for all the kids who played. It’s a great thing they put together for A.J. and it’s just great the kids got to play a few more games this year,” said Ed Jacobs, a parent from Westwood.

Whichever team wins the cup gets to keep it in their school until next year’s tournament.

You can come on Saturday and Sunday, if you’d like to see some good hockey and help support a good cause.

A GoFundMe page for AJ has raised $972,000.
