CAPE COD — A remarkable sight off the coast of Cape Cod and Nantucket. Two local fishermen captured video and pictures of an Orca this past weekend.

Asher Molyneaux took his pictures while out scalloping. They were posted to the New England Fishmongers Facebook page.

Orcas, also known as killer whales, are rare off Cape Cod, but not unheard of. Local fishermen say it’s not something they see every day.

The dorsal fin of the Orca is clearly seen in the pictures Molyneaux was able to capture on Sunday.

Orcas are apex predators. Even great white sharks are their prey.

Fisherman Jerry Leeman tells Boston 25 he captured video of the Orca on Sunday afternoon while working about 40 miles east of Nantucket.

Leeman had eyes on it for about 30 minutes.

“You don’t see this every day, folks!,” said Leeman while feeding the Orca. “At least not in New England. Badass!”

Folks commenting on the most recent pictures of an Orca had people wondering if it too was “Old Thom.”
