BOSTON — It’s no secret that Massachusetts is home to one of the best food scenes around. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s also home to one of the 20 best Italian restaurants in the country, according to a new report.
With Italian food currently the second most popular cuisine in the country, Tasting Table says it set out to find the very best restaurants that offer top-notch authentic dishes.
“Finding it is no problem. Finding the best, though, is a different challenge,” Tasting Table said. “With that in mind, we have chosen the best Italian restaurants in the country.”
One restaurant in the Bay State landed on the list, and as expected, it’s located in Boston’s North End.
Giacomo’s, at 355 Hanover Street, was ranked among Tasting Table’s top 20 Italian restaurants.
“For more than three decades, Bostonians have been lining up outside this North End icon, serving traditional Italian fare in a friendly environment. Longtime fans keep coming back for the large portions, the warm service, and the cozy setting, with tables close enough to each other to create a familiar feeling, even among strangers,” Tasting Table wrote of Giacomo’s.
Tasting Table added, “Classic antipasti like fried calamari, mozzarella marinara, and burrata with tomatoes are part of the menu, as are plenty of seafood-centric dishes like fettuccini with swordfish and salmon in pesto-cream sauce or lobster, clams, and mussels over linguine. Specialties also include local favorites, like New England clam chowder and lobster rolls.”
If you’re considering a trip to Giacomo’s, it’s important to keep in mind that the eatery doesn’t take reservations or credit cards, but there’s an ATM inside, Tasting Table noted.
