Investigation underway following fatal fire in Plainville

PLAINVILLE, Mass. — Plainville Fire Department are investigating the cause of a fatal fire on School Street Friday afternoon, Fire Chief Robert Skinner reports.

Crews responded to the address of 61 School Street at 3:08 P.M. for reports of a house fire. Crews arrived at the scene within two minutes and struck a second alarm.

Heavy fire conditions swarmed the single-family, ranch-style home.

Upon entry to the home, firefighters came in contact with the occupant of the home: A man who used a wheelchair. He was not able to make it out of the home.

Firefighters from North Attleborough, Foxborough, Mansfield, Bellingham, Norfolk, Wrentham, and Cumberland, Rhode Island were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Initial investigations indicated that the fire was caused accidentally.

Further investigation for the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
