Investigation underway after student dies off-campus, WPI reports

WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester Polytechnic Institute reported Tuesday morning that another student has died and that the manner of death remains under investigation at this time.

University officials told Boston 25 News the individual was found in their off-campus apartment.

“We have experienced tremendous loss this academic year, and we are actively working to help our community. We are focusing on providing resources to those most directly impacted, and we continue to expand the ways in which we support our students, families, faculty, and staff.”

The university says it’s also looking into how it can communicate about loss by providing a list of resources for students that may be seeking help.

There have been multiple deaths reported by the university since July 2021. Two other students recently died, reported by the university to students, parents, and faculty on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022.
