LEOMINSTER, Mass. — An investigation is underway after a 13-year-old was struck and killed by a pickup truck near a Market Basket store in Leominster on Monday, authorities said.
Officers responding to a report of a pedestrian struck in the area of Sack Boulevard just after 6 a.m. found a juvenile suffering from critical injuries, according to the Worcester District Attorney’s Office and the Leominster Police Department.
The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Hospital, Leominster Campus, where they died from their injuries a short time later.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the teen was struck by a Chevy Silverado pickup registered out of Maine. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, according to officials.
The crash remains under investigation by Leominster police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section, and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services.
