FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A house was destroyed and a cat is missing after a fire on Rhiner Street in Framingham on Memorial Day, fire officials said.
“The house is a total loss,” Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said in a statement on Monday.
No injuries were reported. An elderly man was displaced, but he has family to stay with, said Dutcher.
A neighbor called the fire department around 1:45 p.m. Monday to report the fire at 19 Rhiner St., said Dutcher. The street is off of Water Street.
When firefighters arrived, they found “heavy fire showing from front and rear on arrival,” said Dutcher.
“Crews did an outstanding job pushing in to knock down the fire,” said Dutcher.
Investigators were still looking for the family pet after the fire.
“We are continuing to search for a missing cat,” said Dutcher.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
