Family: Victim of Lowell homicide was 22-year-old new mom of baby girl

LOWELL, Mass. — Investigators identified the 22-year-old victim of a Lowell homicide Friday as Dejah Jenkins-Minus of Boston.

Family members told Boston 25 News Jenkins-Minus was the proud mother of a two-month-old baby girl.

Her body was found inside a home on Llewelyn St., around 10:45 a.m., Friday, after someone known to the victim requested a well-being check, according to a joint news release from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Kelly Richardson.

An autopsy ruled her death a “homicide by multiple sharp force injuries.”

No arrest was announced, and the crime is not believed to be random, officials said.

LaToya Minus, the mother of the victim, told Boston 25 News by text message Saturday “[Dejah] was a beautiful, loving soul. She did [not] deserve this to happen to her.”

Friends and family lit candles in honor of Jenkins-Minus, weeping in the street as they waited Friday night for her body to be removed from the house.

Loved-ones were taking care of the infant Friday night, family members said, as they demanded justice for her killing.
