Harsh weather causes car to drive into a West Newbury building

WEST NEWBURY, Mass. — Members of the West Newbury Police Department were dispatched to a commercial building to reports of a car crash.

On Friday, December 20, police responded to 290 Main Street and found a silver Toyota Highlander had struck the right side of the building.

The driver, a 17-year-old lone occupant, was evaluated at the scene for injuries.

Fortunately, the building was under renovation and not occupied.

The Groveland Fire Department and Atlantic Ambulance provided mutual aid assistance. The West Newbury Building Inspector and West Newbury Water Department also came to the scene to assess the building’s structural integrity. Electrical services to the building were disconnected.

Initial investigations found that weather and deteriorated road conditions had led to the crash.
