BEVERLY, Mass. — A Harp Seal has been found resting at a beach in Beverly on Sunday morning.

According to Beverly Animal Control, the seal is at Independence Park Beach over by the Jetty at the end of Wilson Avenue.

Animal control is asking people to avoid the area to allow the seal some space. The seal has been evaluated and is not injured or in distress of any sort.

“DO NOT approach or attempt to interact with this animal,” Beverly Animal Control said in a social media post. “It is ILLEGAL to feed and or harass marine mammals,” they added.

People are also asked to not toss anything in the water or in the direction of the seal.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
