The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority confirmed to Boston 25 News that at approximately 7 p.m., the group of juveniles were pointing Nerf toy guns at several passengers and engaging in other forms of harassment.

When the 66-year-old man passed the group, he was heading toward the fare gates on the Orange Line when the group processed to shoot projectiles at the victim, striking him in the head. The victim then exchanged words with the group before the juveniles allegedly attacked him, punching and throwing him against the wall while continuing the assault.

The group fled the scene and entered the southbound Red Line train.

MBTA Transit Police report that the victim sustained head injuries, requiring EMS to send him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Transit police pursued the group before apprehending them outside the MBTA’s JFK-UMass station. MBTA says, based on witness statements, descriptions, and video surveillance reviewed by police, officers placed three male juveniles under arrest.
