Have you caught ‘em all? If so, you may want to dust off that shoebox in your closet. Your old Pokémon cards could be worth thousands.
The online card game site Hearts Land has assembled a list of Pokémon cards that may be worth a small fortune by analyzing data from Professional Sports Authenticator. The most valuable ‘Mons are typically printed on First Edition cards due to their limited print runs.
To tell whether a card is a First Edition, look for the black ‘Edition 1′ logo printed on the back of the card. For most cards, it will be printed halfway up the left side of the card.
It may not be a legendary Pokémon but the holographic Charizard has certainly reached mythical status. With an estimated resale value of $181,900 for a mint condition copy of the card, sales of this card have often made national headlines. PSA reports one was last sold at a marketplace in January 2022 for $252,000.
Charizard’s Kanto starter counterpart, Blastoise, also lands in the top 3 for its holographic card estimated to be worth $38,600.
