FALMOUTH, Mass. — Longtime Falmouth Commodores head coach Jeff Trundy has passed away, the team announced on their website.
The 26-year coach of the Commodores was a former captain of the University of New Hampshire baseball team before gaining his master’s degree. While in Colorado, coach Trundy spent some time as an assistant head coach for Colorado.
Trundy spent 30 years as a head coach in the Cape Cod baseball league, 26 of those with the Commodores. He was known around the league as “Gentlemen Jeff”. He was the recipient of the Mike Curran Award and was named coach of the year three times: in 2004, 2016, and 2019.
Trundy was named into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame in July 2013, and earlier this year he was placed into Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame.
In his spare time in offseasons, Trundy was the head coach of the Frederick Gunn School baseball team in Washington, Connecticut, and served as a part-time scout for the Blue Jays.
