HULL, Mass. — Four people have been taken to the hospital and one is on advanced life support after a house fire in Hull, officials tell Boston 25 News.
Flames broke out just before 4 a.m. Friday at a multi-family home on D Street, which is just off of Nantasket Avenue in Hull. Firefighters were met with heavy flames that tore through the first and second floor of the multi-unit home.
There are four units in the building and the chief says all 16 people made it out but four people had to be taken to the hospital.
Hull Fire Chief Chris Russo believes the fire started on the first floor of unit 30. At first, he says it was difficult to put out because the fire got into the walls.
“We had to put multiple vent holes in the roof to get at this thing, it was in a real tricky spot for us,” said Russo. “Any time you have multiple units and they’re cut up and well insulated as this was, it’s a problem. We’re chasing the fire.”
Russo says the smoke alarms in the building were working. The fire marshal is now investigating the cause.
