Firefighters scramble into action after window washer left dangling from side of Brookline building

BROOKLINE, Mass — Firefighters were forced to scramble into action Wednesday to rescue a window washer who was left dangling from the side of a building in Brookline.

According to Brookline Deputy Fire Chief Pat Canney, firefighters received a call for a window washer who was trapped on the 12th floor at the rear of a condominium complex on Pond Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw the man dangling and hanging from the building.

“He was secured to a safety line. So, he wasn’t going anywhere, but he was not able to extricate himself,” Canney said.

According to Canney, the man was too high to use a ladder to rescue him.

Crews were able to secure the man and lower him safely to a lower floor. The man was not injured and did not go to the hospital.

Boston and Cambridge Tech Rescue teams assisted in the rescue.
