LYNN, Mass. — Firefighters battled a raging blaze that tore through a multi-family home in Lynn on Thursday.
Crews responding to a report of a fire on Sachem Street around 12 p.m. found flames shooting from the roof of the building and thick smoke overtaking the neighborhood.
Video from the scene showed firefighters on ladder trucks dousing the roof with water.
Everyone who was home when the blaze started was able to make it out to safety due to working smoke detectors, according to fire officials.
Crews were still working to knock down the flames at 2 p.m. because the fire was burning slowly.
The public is urged to avoid the area due to the large emergency response.
The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
