Fire at Brookline hotel forces guests to evacuate

BROOKLINE, Mass. — A fire at a hotel in Brookline forced guests out of their beds in the middle of the night.

Firefighters responding to the Arcadian Hotel on Beacon Street near the Kent Street T stop found flames in an out-of-commission kitchen in a basement ballroom, according to the Brookline Fire Department.

Video captured by a Boston 25 photographer showed dozens of people standing on the sidewalk while crews extended ladders to the building.

There were no reported injuries in the fire.

The flames were knocked down quickly and guests were allowed back inside.

Investigators believe the fire could have been sparked by a light fixture.

The hotel is currently under construction and in the process of changing ownership.
