Fire in bedroom of Framingham home displaces 3 residents

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Crews battled a smoky fire in a bedroom on Tuesday afternoon.

Framingham Deputy Chief Jose Lopez says firefighters responded to a home on Howe Street around 1:40 p.m. for a report of smoke showing from the second floor.

Arriving companies investigated and found a fire in a bedroom on the right side of the duplex.

Crews worked to quickly extinguish the flames. A charred mattress was pulled from the residence.

Deputy Chief Lopez says there were no injuries but three people and several pets were displaced, including a dog and a couple of cats.

The smoke and slight water damage was contained to the to the second floor bedroom, according to authorities.

Deputy Chief Lopez estimated the fire caused about $30,000 worth of damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
