Fire officials say when they got there, they found the driver was trapped. After trying to rescue him, they discovered he was dead. The medical examiner was called to the scene before the man was taken out of the truck.
“We were trying to extricate him but then we discovered he was deceased so now we need to wait for the medical examiner,” said Captain Rick Nohl, the incident commander. “It took us a while to actually gain access to inside the cab, he was pinned in there pretty heavily.”
He has only been identified as a 45-year-old male.
Officials say he was the only person in the truck, which was fully loaded with produce.
