Small airplane crashes along busy Hampton Beach in New Hampshire

HAMPTON, N.H. — Lifeguards rushed to help the pilot of a small airplane after it crashed along the shore on Hampton Beach on Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to the busy beach after receiving emergency calls reporting the airplane crash at 12:02 p.m., according to the Hampton Fire Department.

Video obtained by Boston 25 shows people on the beach close to the shore, looking at the tail of a small aircraft floating in the water.

One pilot was on board the small aircraft, which was overturned in the water along the shoreline, fire officials said.

Lifeguards rushed into the water to help the pilot.

Several minutes later, several lifeguards and people also helped pull the airplane from the water to the beach.

The pilot was evaluated at the scene, and was not taken to the hospital by EMS, fire officials said.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred near the Hampton Beach State Park Shell.

The crash happened as beach goers were cooling off at the beach as the region experiences a heat wave.

Hampton Police and Fire responded, along with New Hampshire State Police.

The beach remained open following the crash.
