“These boys have played their hearts out and got us to where we are right now”, said a happy Easton MA coach Sean Smith after his 12U Little Leaguers beat West Hartford, CT 9-1 on Thursday night to win the Cal Ripken Northeast Regional.
And by winning the regional, Easton is now headed to the Cal Ripken World Series in Branson Missouri beginning on Wednesday, August 2nd.
Easton was led on the mound by starting pitcher Zane Prescott who held West Hartford at bay.
Offensively, it was a full team effort by Easton with Prescott adding a good day at the plate with 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI. Easton also got big run-scoring hits from George Papowtsis, Tarren Lawless, and Bennett McStowe and a two-run homer from Brady Shatas that gave them an 8-1 lead.
Easton ended up winning 9-1 punching their ticket to the Cal Ripken Little League World Series.
“We won the state tournament, that was our goal but now we’ve won this regional and who knows what we are capable of from here”, said victorious head coach Sean Smith.
