A drone was found at an airfield on Nantucket on Sunday, officials say.
Staff at Nantucket Memorial Airport found the drone on an airfield around 7:30 a.m. Sunday
The discovery was immediately reported to The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration.
An airport spokesperson told Boston 25 that the drone weighs a little more than half a pound and is available for purchase online.
“Drone operators should avoid flying near airports and must receive an airspace authorization prior to operation,” the airport shared in a statement. “For more information on airspace and flying restrictions please download the FAA’s “B4UFLY” app and visit the FAADroneZone https://faadronezone-access.faa.gov to review and request required airspace authorizations.”
