Driver killed when pickup truck crashes into tree in Massachusetts town, police say

CARVER, Mass. — A 72-year-old Carver man was killed when his pickup truck crashed into a tree in Carver early Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police did not release the driver’s name on Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to Federal Road at approximately 12:54 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment, police said.

When first responders arrived, they found the driver trapped inside the red pickup truck, which had struck a tree, police said. Firefighters were able to quickly free the driver from the vehicle.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he was pronounced dead. A Boston MedFlight crew assisted Carver EMS.

The crash remains under investigation by Carver Police, with assistance from State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.
