BOSTON — A driver is dead after an early-morning crash off I-93 northbound in Andover. Massachusetts State Police confirmed one car went off the road and crashed, leaving the sole occupant dead.
State Police told Boston 25 the vehicle went off the roadway to the right and rolled over into the wood line. The first trooper on scene reported a single 45-year-old Andover male driver was entrapped with serious trauma. The man was later determined to be deceased at the scene.
The crash happened at approximately 4:22 a.m. Sunday near exit 38. The medical examiner arrived at the scene just before 6 a.m.
The crash resulted in the closure of the first and second lanes while police investigated the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Essex County State Police Detective Unit.
