BOSTON — 161 firefighters in Massachusetts have tested positive for coronavirus as April 17, according to The Professional Fire Firefighters of Massachusetts.
2,646 firefighters have a documented exposure to COVID-19, 1,280 have been tested for the virus and 445 are currently under quarantine.
“These numbers are alarming, but firefighters across Massachusetts and the United States will continue to answer your calls for service,” the labor union said. “Please help us help you - Stay home.”

The numbers encompass 203 locals representing 11,131 members, which accounts for 98% of the union’s membership.
