Dorchester woman convicted of murder in 2018 shooting death of Garfield Thomas in Mattapan

BOSTON — A Dorchester woman has been convicted of second-degree murder in the 2018 shooting death of Garfield Thomas in Mattapan, the district attorney said Tuesday.

Jocelyn Vasquez, 37, was convicted by a Suffolk County jury on Tuesday morning of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm without a license, Suffolk County district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Thomas, 33, was shot and killed in his Evelyn Street apartment in Mattapan on May 15, 2018.

Vasquez’s sentencing is scheduled for June 22 before Judge O’Shea, the district attorney said.
