Dorchester man arrested on slew of firearm and drug charges

BOSTON — A Dorchester man has been arrested and is facing multiple firearm and drug possession charges.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, officers patrolling Stratton Street noticed a vehicle with excessive vehicle tint. Officers ordered a traffic stop in the area of Stratton and Ames Street.

Upon approaching the vehicle, they multiple packages of marijuana. The operator told officers that it was 2 ounces of marijuana, Massachusetts residents are not able to obtain more than 1 ounce outside their home. The operator also told officers that it was not in its original dispensary bag.

Officers requested the driver, 21-year-old Raymon Lorenzo of Dorchester, to step out of the vehicle.

Upon investigation of the vehicle, officers found that the marijuana weighed a total of 1.75 ounces, but as officers continued their investigation, they also found a large plastic bag of cocaine.

Officers also found a Sig Sauer P365 handgun with a 12-round magazine and a laser sight attached to it.

Lorenzo was arrested and charged with:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense
  • Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm 2nd Offense
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
  • Trafficking Cocaine in 36 Grams or More but Less than 100 Grams
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D

Lorenzo is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
