BOSTON — A 43-year-old Dorchester man died after crashing his Jet Ski into a sailboat Sunday afternoon in Boston Harbor, state police said.

The victim, Curtis Raper, was riding a Jet Ski off Malibu Beach in Dorchester when he crashed into a sailboat that was attached to a mooring around 4:30 p.m., officials said.

Boston police, state police and a marine unit all responded, and Raper was pulled to shore after he was found unresponsive. He was transported to Boston Medical Center where he later died, according to a statement.

Officials said in a statement that a preliminary investigation found Raper was “accompanied by three male friends,” and witnesses told police the group was taking turns riding two Jet Skis.

It’s unclear what led Raper to crash.
