HAVERHILL, Mass. — A 60-year-old woman is dead following an apartment fire on Pilling Street.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke when they arrived but were able to do a search and located two fire victims. Both were taken to a local hospital. The 60-year-old woman died.
The victim of this fire is being identified as Holly Quinn, 60, according to the Essex County District Attorney.
The fire was contained to just one unit of the triple-decker home, according to Deputy Fire Chief Eric Tarpley.
A total of 10 people were displaced by the fire.
The State Fire Marshal said the fire was likely caused by smoking while home oxygen was in use.
