Wildlife officials are trying to determine what caused a humpback whale to wash ashore in Marshfield.
Coast guard crews first spotted the dead whale’s body floating one mile off of Scituate yesterday.
NOAA’s stranding partner, Whale and Dolphin Conservation, was called out to collect samples.
They buried the whale on the beach.
