DA: Suspect in Quincy murder on the run

QUINCY, Mass. — A Norfolk County grand jury on Tuesday indicted two men in connection with a murder in Quincy in February. One of those men has not been caught, the district attorney’s office said.

“The grand jury issued murder indictments against both Jaivon Harris, 18, who was arrested in late February, and Keniel Diaz-Romero, 18, who remains at large,” said Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

Diaz-Romero had not previously been publicly identified in connection with the Feb. 15 shooting in Quincy’s Germantown neighborhood. Weymouth High School student Nathan Paul, 17, was shot and killed after a group of teens tried to rob him of THC vape cartridges, prosecutors say.

Harris pleaded not guilty at his arraignment March 1. He and Diaz-Romero have been indicted on charges of murder; larceny from a person; possession of a counterfeit bill; uttering a counterfeit bill; and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Diaz-Romero was also indicted on a charge of unlawfully carrying a firearm. Harris faces an additional indictment of misleading police.

Diaz-Romero is believed to be out of the state, the district attorney said.

“We are working with local, regional, and federal law enforcement to find him and take him into custody,” Morrissey said.
