EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Authorities are investigating a death in East Bridgewater after a woman’s body was found outside a home Sunday morning, Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Officials said, in a statement on Monday, that they continue to investigate the “unattended death” of a woman who was found unresponsive outside a Belmont Street home.
On Sunday the DA’s office called the woman’s death “suspicious.”
“It sounds so cliché but things like that don’t happen around here,” Sandi Shea said. She said her phone was ringing off the hook from family and friends, wondering what was happening across the street from her house.
“It was just a zoo out there, people everywhere, investigators on phones, and officers driving tarps,” she said.
What residents find worrisome is the lack of information in the case. Shea says it’s hard having three kids and not knowing what went on just feet from where they sleep.
“One of them slept with me last night because she was so scared and at this point still not knowing what’s going on still not having identification and having a sense of security, it’s pretty scary.”
Other residents echoed similar sentiments.
“We couldn’t see anything because it was all blocked off,” Kiah, a neighbor, said. “I’m curious, can’t wait to find out details.”
Investigators are still working to identify the woman.
“This was not a random act, and there is no imminent threat to public safety,” according to the DA’s office.
