CVS, Walgreens limiting purchases on children’s medicines

As illnesses like the Flu and RSV run rampant during the winter season, pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS will begin to limit the amount of children’s medicine parents can purchase.

The two pharmaceutical giants announced Monday they will begin to limit the purchases of children’s pain relief products such as Tylenol.

Walgreens will allow customers to make six over-the-counter purchases, while CVS will allow customers to purchase just two pain relief products either in-person or online.

CVS says it also working with suppliers to meet demand.

Aside from over-the-counter products, the prescription antibiotic amoxicillin also is in short supply due to increased demand, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The drug is often used to treat nose and throat infections in children.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
