SCITUATE, Mass. — Firefighters battled a raging blaze at a seaside home in Scituate Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the home overlooking the water on Oceanside Drive around 3:19 p.m., Scituate fire officials told Boston 25.

Large flames could be seen erupting from the single-family home.

Additional crews from Cohasset, Hingham, Marshfield, Norwell, and Pembroke also responded to help assist Scituate fire.

“Strong winds and storm conditions have further complicated the operation. Crews are actively working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes,” the Scituate Fire Department said in a statement. “The situation is currently being managed by the Scituate Fire Department, which will be conducting an investigation in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office.”

Residents are asked to avoid Oceanside Drive and the Sand Hills area while crews continue to try and get the fire under control.
