Clinton priest joins Massachusetts State Police Chaplain Corps

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A Clinton priest is the newest chaplain to join the Massachusetts State Police, the state’s law enforcement division said Monday.

The Rev. James Mazzone was sworn to the Massachusetts State Police Chaplain Corps by Massachusetts State Police Colonel John Mawn Jr. in a recent ceremony at State Police headquarters, state police said.

Mazzone currently serves as pastor of St. John, Guardian of our Lady Parish in Clinton. He previously served as director of the Office of Vocations for the Diocese of Worcester as well as the Diocese’s Holy Name of Jesus House of Studies.

Massachusetts State Police Chaplains, who serve voluntarily, provide non-denominational spiritual support and counseling to department members and community citizens as needed, state police said. Chaplains often work closely with the Department’s Employee Assistance Unit.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
