“Chowda Day” will be officially recognized as a holiday in Boston on January 15.
Leaders from Legal Sea Foods, Boston City Council, and Boston Children’s Hospital officially proclaimed January 15 as “Chowda Day,” a “Legal” holiday, and celebrated with a cup of Chowda.
“We are thrilled to officially proclaim January 15th as “Chowda Day,” said Boston City Council President, Ed Flynn.
“Chowda Day” is Legal Sea Foods’ philanthropy event that lets visitors buy a cup of their famous New England Clam Chowder for $1.
All proceeds from this event every year go to Boston Children’s Hospital.
“It’s an honor to receive this proclamation from the Boston City Council,” said Matt King, Legal Sea Foods Brand President and COO. “Giving back to our community has always been a part of our culture at Legal Sea Foods, and Chowda Day has been a rewarding experience, year after year. We’re thankful to all of our incredible guests and restaurant staff who continue to participate in these initiatives and go above and beyond to make a difference.”
Last year “Chowda Day” sold over 9,000 cups of Chowda, this is the highest the company has ever sold, and they hope to surpass the goal this year.
“We are grateful for all of the unwavering dedication and support we’ve received from Legal Sea Foods throughout the decades. It’s an honor to maintain this strong, long standing relationship, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration well into the future,” said Mike Bornhorst, Vice President, Corporate Development, Leadership Giving and Special Events, Boston Children’s Hospital.
Legal Sea Foods newest location is in Boston’s Back Bay. The restaurant features a large horseshoe-shaped bar, private dining space, and expansive lounge and dining areas.
