BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Jase Russell, a 6-year-old battling neuroblastoma, isn’t letting cancer getting in the way of helping others.
Over the weekend, Jase hosted a lemonade stand outside of his Bridgewater home, raising more than $6,000 to help other families affected by childhood cancer, his family said.
Also, Jase was the highest raising fundraiser for the initiative last year, raising over $4,000. All funds raised will be donated to Tommy’s Place, a local nonprofit in Falmouth that provides families affected by childhood cancer with expense-paid vacations.
Danielle Russell, Jase’s mom, said that the lemonade stand helps Jase give back to the community.
“When life gives you lemons… you make lemonade!” Russell said in a statement. “As parents of a pediatric cancer patient, we feel helpless a lot of the time. But this is something we can do, and the whole community gets involved. Participating in Rockland Trust’s lemonade stand initiative has been a way for us to raise money and awareness for Tommy’s Place, an organization that means a great deal to our family and so many others.”
Rockland Trust Bank provided families with lemonade stand kits to open up shop, to help with the fundraising for Tommy’s Place, officials said.
