Boston Police confiscate large amounts of fireworks in South Boston

BOSTON — Boston Police officers confiscated large amounts of fireworks following multiple calls and complaints on Friday night.

Officials say the seizure happened around 9 p.m. in the area of Gavin Way in South Boston. At the scene, officers found a group of people gathering in the parking lot of Saint Peter’s Church with several packages of fireworks,

When questioned, they told police they didn’t know fireworks were considered illegal in the City of Boston and throughout the state of Massachusetts.

All fireworks were confiscated, but no arrests were made. Instead, officers took the time to educate and inform everyone and also let them know that, in addition to the mandatory seizure, they could also face monetary fines.
