BOSTON — Boston City Hall was evacuated and subsequently closed for the remainder of the day, following a bomb threat.

The threat was made over the phone, according to Boston Police. It is unclear at this time who at Boston City Hall took the phone call.

Boston Police did a search of the building and deemed it safe, according to a spokesperson for the department.

Shortly after the threat was called in, an email was sent to employees of City Hall telling them to evacuate the building.

The email read “due to an emergency situation, we are evacuating City Hall and closing the building down for the remainder of the day. All employees should gather their belongs [sic] and exit the building as quickly as possible.”

The incident remains under investigation by the Boston Police.
