Bicyclist killed after being struck in hit-and-run in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Mass. — A bicyclist was killed Friday night after being struck by a motor vehicle on Folly Mill Road in Salisbury.

The Salisbury Police Department told Boston 25 News that officers responded to Folly Mill Rd. at approximately 11:16 p.m. following reports that a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers determined that the pedestrian was riding a bicycle when they were struck by a pickup truck that was carrying a small camper, which dislodged after the crash.

Police confirmed the bicyclist was dead at the scene and was later identified as Rebecca Bartczak, 39, of Amesbury. The pickup truck left the scene and was found later in Kensington, New Hampshire, by Hampton Falls Police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Salisbury Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, New Hampshire State Police, and the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
