MARBLEHEAD, Mass. — Actress Jennifer Coolidge, star of the 2001 film Legally Blonde, recently sent a special video message to Marblehead High School students who are performing in the theatrical version of the film.

“Bend, and snap!” Coolidge says in the video while laughing, referring to the famous scene in which her film co-star, Elle, played by Reese Witherspoon, shows Coolidge’s character, Paulette, how to pick up something off the floor to attract potential suitors.

“Hey Marblehead High School! It’s Jennifer Coolidge and I just want to say congratulations on doing Legally Blonde this weekend!” Coolidge said at the start of her video message. “Oh my God, I know that you had an opening night last night. I’m so excited for you. It’s such a great show.”

She congratulated cast members on landing their roles, and also spoke about how Legally Blonde changed her career, and life.

“I just want to tell you all and especially to the cast: Legally Blonde brought me so much luck and so many great things happened to me after Legally Blonde, and I just have a good feeling about this for all of you. It’s such a great show and it might be the beginning of many careers, and I’m so sad I couldn’t be there in person to see it,” Coolidge said.

The actress said she had planned to watch the show in person in Marblehead but couldn’t make it.

“I just want to say best of luck tonight and best of luck for the finishing of the show and I hope I meet you all in person. Congratulations again!” Coolidge said.

“And just one last thing, one last thing. Bend and snap! Bye,” she said.

Coolidge was in Cambridge earlier this year to receive a special award.

In January, the “White Lotus” star was named the 2023 Woman of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
