FALL RIVER, Mass. — Residents in Fall River are being urged to keep a close eye on their pets amid an uptick in bear sightings in the city.
A photo shared by the department over the weekend showed a black bear lounging on the deck of a home in the area of North Main Street.
The bear was then photographed as it tried to slip through a fence in the yard.
Police noted that officers contacted Massachusetts Environmental Police to track down and relocate the bear.
“Residents in the area are asked not to leave any small pets unattended, and bring in any dog or cat food you may have outside,” the department said.
Anyone who sees a bear is asked to contact the Massachusetts Environmental Police at 800-632-8075 or 911.
