BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A Barnstable man is facing charges after allegedly barricading himself in a home and shooting tree workers with a high-powered air gun on Tuesday morning.

Kyle Stacey, 34, of Marston Mills, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalism, and resisting arrest.

Police say they responded to Tanbark Road after receiving reports of a bullet hole in a residence’s window. A half-hour after clearing the scene, the department received another call saying that a person was shooting a rifle at tree workers on the exact same road, according to authorities.

Responding officers made contact with Stacey, who they say retreated into his home and barricaded himself. Police identified Stacey as the suspected shooter and called for the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team, Barnstable Police K-9 Unit, and Barnstable Police Detective Unit due to the nature of the call.

According to authorities, Stacey refused to exit the residence despite multiple requests. He eventually conceded and was taken into custody.

Investigators say they found a number of .30 caliber projectiles, firearm cleaning tools, and several air guns; including a Vulcan 3 .30 caliber air gun with an attached scope. The Vulcan air gun can fire both .25 and .30 caliber lead projectiles up to a velocity of 1,000 feet per second, according to police.

Stacey was ordered held on $15,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Thursday.

No further information was immediately available.
