SOMERVILLE, Mass. — The Middlesex DA’s office, along with Somerville Police, are currently investigating a fatal stabbing that happened on Saturday.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Alewife Brook Parkway just before 4 p.m.
At the scene, police found the victim, 27-year-old Kesner Junior Lubin, of Somerville, suffering from stab wounds. Preliminary investigation suggests Lubin and another resident at the Clarendon Hill Apartments, Washington Assis-Rodrigues, 26, had a verbal altercation that turned physical.
Assis-Rodriguez is accused of stabbing the victim during the altercation.
Lubin was transported to Mass. General, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect stayed on scene and was charged with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, but more charges could be added. Assis-Rodriguez is expected to be arraigned by teleconference on Monday at Somerville District Court.
Both the victim and suspect knew each other.
