BROCKTON, Mass. — Authorities are investigating a shooting in Brockton early Wednesday morning that left a man dead and two women injured.
Officers responding to a 911 call for a shooting in the area of Tremont and Essex streets just before 2 a.m. found three people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.
Thomas Andrade Jr., 31, of Brockton, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two women were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation revealed that an outdoor party with more than 100 people was ongoing in the area in the hours leading up to the time of the shooting.
“This gathering included the consumption of alcohol and the execution of dozens of fireworks,” the DA’s office said in a statement. “At least six or more motor vehicles were struck by gunfire, and investigators seized numerous pieces of ballistic and spent firework evidence at the scene.”
The shooting wasn’t a random act of violence, according to the DA’s office.
There were no additional details immediately available.
State troopers assigned to the DA’s office are assisting Brockton police with the investigation.
