BOSTON — Another Boston restaurant was temporarily shut down by the city this week after an inspection revealed a slew of health violations and unsanitary working conditions.
Dumpling Cafe at 693 Washington Street in the city’s Chinatown section had its license to operate suspended following an inspection on Monday, according to an Inspectional Services Department report published on the “Mayors Food Court” page.
The eatery was ordered to “cease operations and close” after there were issues found with packaged and unpackaged food, utensils, kitchen conditions, water temperature, and rodents.
An inspection of the kitchen revealed an old chicken box filled with cut produce, a buildup of food and debris near the grease trap, low water temperature in the dishwasher, and a dead rat under the dish machine area, according to the report.
Officials said the restaurant will not be permitted to reopen until all the issues are addressed and corrected.
This closure comes just days after Los Amigos Taqueria locations in Brighton and West Roxbury were shut down over unsanitary working conditions that officials linked to a Salmonella outbreak in the area.
Court documents filed Tuesday revealed that a sickened woman had filed a lawsuit against the Los Amigos, alleging that she became ill from Salmonella food poisoning after eating in Brighton.
