BOSTON, Mass — Flights came to a halt nationwide for American Airlines passengers Tuesday morning when the airline requested a ground stop from the FAA.
The ground stop caused some delays for people traveling at Boston Logan Airport but it didn’t crush spirits.
“If I’m being honest I really expected like Home Alone 2 kind of thing and a full airport but it’s pretty quiet, pretty chill,” said Yvenelle Dalexis, who was flying to Charlotte.
John Walker added, “I’ve got a lot of traveling this holiday so remarkably it’s turning out really, really well so far, no connection problems.”
American Airlines requested a nationwide ground stop of all planes after they said a technology issue impacted systems needed to release flights.
That meant no flights took off for about an hour, including ones already boarded with passengers.
American said in part, “We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this morning. It’s all hands on deck as our team is working diligently to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible.”
“I’m looking out the window and there’s definitely some flurries and I’m hoping they do not cancel. I’ve already been delayed once,” said Dalexis.
American Airlines said the issue has been resolved and flights have resumed.
They recommend passengers use their mobile app or website for the latest information on their flight.
