WATERTOWN, Mass. — Six people, including five students, were injured in a crash involving a packed school bus in Watertown on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Officers responding to a report of a crash in the area of Belmont and Lexington streets around 8 a.m. found a bus occupied with 44 Lowell West School students that had collided with a white Mini Cooper, according to the Watertown Police Department.
Five of the students were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were described as minor. The bus driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other students who were riding the bus were staged in a nearby cemetery and ultimately reunited with their parents and guardians.
Investigators noted that solar glare may have played a role in the crash.
“We believe solar glare was a factor in this collision,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Please be aware of solar glare while driving and exercise caution.”
