BOSTON — Three suspects are facing charges after five people were wounded in a shooting in Boston during an overnight incident that left a street covered in fireworks debris, law enforcement officials said.
Hakeem Ramey, 29, of Brockton, Nashaly Seguinot, 25, of Boston, and Samuel Roman, 24, also of Boston, are slated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Boston Police Department.
Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area of 33 Edgewater Drive in the city’s Mattapan section around 2 a.m. found five victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
All of the victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Video from the scene showed a heavy emergency presence in the area and dozens of evidence markers next to shell casings in the street.
Officers later stopped a vehicle attempting to leave the scene and spoke with the occupants to ensure there were no injured victims in the motor vehicle, police said. During that interaction, officers recovered a loaded firearm. The gun was later determined to be a Lorcin L 380, with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.
Officers also observed a third suspect discarding a firearm near the scene and was quickly placed into custody. That gun was later determined to be a H&K VP9 with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the magazine.
Ramey, Seguinot, and Roman were then taken into custody.
Daylight photos of the neighborhood that later emerged showed the street coated in discarded fireworks and other debris.
Hours after the violence erupted, a street sweeper was seen cleaning the debris from the littered roadway.
An investigation remains ongoing.
